King Lear Lecture

Our Sixth Year Students are looking forward to a visit from Professor Nicholas Grene of Trinity College. Professor Grene, author of Shakespeare’s Tragic Imagination will share his knowledge of King Lear with the students on Monday 12 April. Professor Grene has visited the school on a number of occasions, his talks are extremely informative and we are delighted to have him back.


Quiz Team

Our Quiz Team have qualified for the second round of the Thomas Crosby Holding Inter-schools Quiz. The next round will take place in the coming weeks, best wishes to all.

Art History Appreciation Trip

As part of their Art History and appreciation studies a group of Sixth Year students visited the National History Museum and the National Gallery on Friday. The trip which was organised by Ms.Wynne and Ms. O’Reilly was both informative and enjoyable.


Practical Exams and Orals

Our Junior and Leaving Certificate Students are busy preparing for their practical exams in Music and their oral exams in French and Irish which will take place after the Easter holidays, Best wishes to all.

LOG ON, LEARN

The Log On and Learn Project involves Transition Year Students sharing their computer skills with older members of their community. The project has been up and running in the school for a number of weeks now and has been very successful. It takes place each Wednesday afternoon in the school.


Easter Holidays

The School will close for Easter holidays on Friday 26 March at 3.30 pm and will re-open on Monday 12 April. The staff of Avondale Community College would like to take this opportunity to wish all our students and their families a very peaceful and enjoyable Easter. Best wishes to all our students who will be studying for oral exams and others at this time.
