FIRST YEARS
Best wishes to all our first year students who have settled in verywell and are making a positive contribution to the school.
SPORTS
Athletics
Well done to Amy Murphy, Craig Curley and Aoife Conroy who recently completed in The Leinster Athletics Competition. All students performed really well on the day.
Basketball
U16 and U19 Girls basketball training will resume shortly. Best wishes to all those involved in the league.
Football
U14 Football training will take place every Thursday at 1pm. County Wicklow Footballer, Leighton Glynn, will be coaching a number of these lessons.
Hurling
Hurling training for first, second and third year boys will begin on Tuesday at 1pm.
GREEN SCHOOLS
The Green Schools Committee has been working very hard to maintain the current recycling standards in school. A number of new initiatives have been set up including a ‘Thrash Campaign’ undertaken by thisyear’s Transition Year students. Those involved have been busy designing new bins to be placed around the school with the aim of encouraging all students to place their litter in the correct bin.Best wishes to those involved and to the entire Committee who will be applying for a Green Flag in the near future.
TY NEWS
Transition Year students will begin a five week Kick Boxing Course on Monday.
Best wishes to all Transition Year Students who are heading off to Killary on Wednesday.
CHESS CLUB
Chess club will take place every Tuesday and Wednesday at Lunchtime.We look forward to this year’s inter-school competitions.
SCHOOL LIBRARY
The school library will be opened every Tuesday and Friday at lunchtime.
Students who wish to borrow books can do so at these times.

PARENTS ASSOCIATION MEETING
A meeting of the Parents Association took place on Monday. The ommittee welcomed Mr. Mulvey as its new teacher representative.Issues relevant to the development of the school were discussed.
COUNTY WICKLOW VEC MEETING
Avondale Community College was delighted to host the September meeting f the County Wicklow Vocational Educational Committee.
